Scarlett's Room

I have been living with my parents for 6 months now (and YES I am LOVING it and I hope they are too!).  We were here since the housing up at Fort Drum is about a year wait and that's if your lucky!  Due to that there isn't anything to rent in the area.  So we closed on our second home just days before Christmas.  My mom and the kids made the 4 1/2 hour trip north in the beginning of the month to collect our household goods, so far everything looks good but the couch didn't make it in!  We left the next day so my mom could make it to my nephews play and my brother Croix's birthday was the day after that.
Anyways since we found out we were moving early last year we have been promising Scarlett a special room.  She wants a rainbow room and while we have some rainbows in it (she really just wants lots of colors), it will be a perfect little girls room.
Let me introduce you to my new love and obsession but if you've never done it before let me warn you it's addicting!!!!  So it's called Pinterest and remember I warned you!  It is a site full of great ideas, tips, crafts, decorating, recipe's, how-to's, pictures, party ideas, products you name it and it is probably there!
It is this site that I am using to get many fun and cute ideas for Scarlett's room. Here are a few things I've done with her so far and a little sneak peek to her room...

Her 'S' using buttons!
I love how simple and beautiful these embroidery hoops with fabric came out.  They have a vintage look which of course is perfect for any little girls room!  She picked out the fabric and had fun doing it(Just a bunch of fat quarters, if you had scraps around even better, and then some embroidery hoops) .Scarlett thinks they are cute little polka dots for her room and has enjoyed rearranging and stacking them!  I think there need to be double the amount though, it's going to look great!
Something very fun to do? Crayon Art!  Scarlett helped me pick out the crayons and glue them onto the canvas.  Once the glue was dried we both had fun watching the crayons melt with a hair dryer!

This one is almost done, we just have to add some flowers:
Thank goodness we have a toy room in this house!  Here are some things to decorate that room:

My mom said while she was up at 2am one morning she was thinking this needed to be on a square canvas and I agree with her; I also think it should be bigger!  Maybe a redo?
I LOVE how Scarlett draws people, this so happens to be a picture of her and Zachary:

Well that's all for now. I head up to the 'white house' as Scarlett calls it at the end of this week to unpack everything and throw a baby shower for a close friend who is also stationed up there :o)  So once I get the room all finished up I'll post more pictures :o)

Snowed In!!!

As most of us know it has been a very mild/warm winter. We got about 12 inches of snow back at the end of October and then nothing since!  Poor Scarlett is pretty upset about this but that all changed early this morning when everyone was sleeping.  My parents left for Vermont yesterday morning so its been just me and the munchkins all day.  Zachary isn't a good nap taker (but he sleeps GREAT at night!) so poor Scarlett hasn't had me out there with her to play with.  We haven't built that snowman or gone sledding (not really sure if it's good packing snow anyways).  But none the less we are having a great day!  Every time Zachary took his "nap" we would get all dressed and head on out into the white outdoors.  She had a lot of fun helping me shovel but I never got much done during the day since Zach kept waking up.  By the way my parents driveway is just under a quarter of a mile up hill...or down hill which ever end your looking at.  After the kids went to bed tonight I managed to shovel maybe a third of the driveway...maybe just a quarter though!
Anyways we got a few snow angels and catching of the snowflakes on the tongue in too!  Inside we enjoyed story reading of course, a warm fire, hot cocoa, cookie making (tried a nutella peanut butter recipe and I personally thought they were just a little dry but Scarlett of course loved them), coloring in coloring books, puzzles, and candy land.  So I am pretty much tired and might I add sore! I am not sure the last time I shoveled so much and if you looked at the driveway you wouldn't think I did much! Oh well.

That is all for now, I am off to relax and enjoy a tall glass of water! Enjoy a few pictures from today:

Zacharoo playing in the basket
Little frogs in the snow...I love Zach's face in this.  Scarlett was having a tough time holding him and staying up with the snow suit, ha!
Taking a break from the snow and cleaning out the bowl from our cookie making

 Swinging away
While I was making her dinner and cleaning up a bit Scarlett was outside, when I went out to check on her she was sitting in the snow eating it.  This is what she said "mommy! This snow is sooo yummy, don't you want to try some? It is always good to try new things you know?" That's my girl!

Warming up with a stack of books by the fire, what's better then that?

I'm back!

Hello! I'm back!!! If you are back from reading past blogs of mine welcome back, if your new welcome!  I have taken a few months off, it can be a lot of work and time to put these posts up and with a new little one and a 3 year old... well I was busy and wanted NOTHING to do with blogging!  But here I am back again and learning it all over again.  Part of the reason is that Matt is yet again deployed and he said the blog helped him stay connected with us during his last deployment.  He left just before Thanksgiving (of 2011) and thankfully will be back for good this March!
I was going to do a brief recap of all the months I've missed but I'm not! While your here click on FOLLOW ME button on the right so I can see who you are and whenever you please leave a comment too :o) Who knows how often I'll post or where this goes but for now here I am.
